Yarra One: The new landmark

Yarra One: The new landmark
Yarra One; a collection of luxurious residences designed by Fender Katsalidis Architects and built by listed Malaysian developer Eco World-Salcon Y1 Pty Ltd; will become the new landmark in the Forrest Hill precinct. This $4 billion urban renewal project aims to implement an east-west pedestrian link and enhance the streetscape and infrastructure to accommodate the highly-populated area. The 27-storey tower will provide 268 units. There has been a true commitment to making a positive contribution to South Yarra's growing community with the creation of this atrium; says Andrew Leoncelli; Managing Director for residential projects at CBRE; the real estate agent for Yarra One. As the heart of South Yarra; Yarra One will improve the pedestrian movement in the city through opening up the path between Yarra Lane and Daly Street. The atrium at Yarra One will serve as the new meeting point for both residents and visitors. A range of restaurants; cafes and retail shops will be opened to satisfy the customer needs. Positioned in the centre of the area's pedestrian traffic between the train station and Chapel Street; the atrium has been designed to be used and embraced by the community; says Karl Fender; Founding Director of Fender Katsalidis Architects. The concept of Yarra One is inspired by the Melbourne's renowned network of laneways; inter spliced with cafes; galleries; independent shops and quirky boutiques. The atrium will also feature a series of tiered seating with a small stage area in the centre. Besides the cultural elements; the building's signature trellis with timber frames and climbing greens will add a sense of fresh air to the hustling city. Construction is expected to begin on the $218m tower next year.
