The role of Building Information Modelling (BIM) has transcended its origins as a mere design tool within the construction realm. It has evolved into a standalone deliverable — an encompassing digital methodology that surpasses basic 3D modelling by amalgamating data-rich collaboration, lifecycle management, regulatory adherence, and heightened operational efficacy.
Positioned as a deliverable, the digital building model furnishes all invested parties with a singular, reliable source of truth, facilitating astute and sustainable project execution and asset oversight.
While BIM is commonly utilised by U.S. firms for design and construction endeavours, the concept of it being a deliverable remains largely overlooked, partly due to perceived technology constraints and access impediments encountered by project teams.
“Only a few people even know where the BIM file is,” said Budi Susanto, GM for LeapThought Asia. LeapThought’s FULCRUMHQ is a leading Integrated Digital Delivery platform. “Contractors need to stop just designing in 3D and start building in 3D.”
