Three projects in Sydney have been nominated for the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Heritage's Best Tall Building awards; which commends the creme de la creme of tall buildings on the global stage. The awards will be announced at Chicago's Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Heritage (CTBUH) conference. Barangaroo's Rogers Stirk Harbour and International Towers are both contending for the Best Tall Building: Asia and Australasia Award and the Urban Habitat Award. The EY Centre by FJMT was shortlisted for the Construction Award, and Foster and Partners's Lumiere residential tower was nominated for the 10 Year Award; a prize that measures building performance over time. The EY Centre is known for its gold exterior; boasting the world's first closed-cavity facade system on a high-rise. Ateliers Jean Nouvel's One Central Park; Sydney received the award for Best Tall Building Worldwide back in 2014. FJMT Architects also scooped up national award for commercial design at the 2017 National Architecture Awards. Mirvac's EY Centre is a new landmark building redefining the Sydney skyline; which has set industry benchmarks for sustainability; innovation; heritage integration and construction techniques in Australia and around the world; stated Head of Stakeholder Relations at Mirvac; Bay Warburton. Fosters and Partners' Lumiere Apartments are designed with sustainability and high functionality in mind. Their nomination attests to the quality of their design within the category of residential skyscrapers both in Australia and internationally.
