Realtime Robotics and HLS Engineering collaborate to optimize automation
Realtime Robotics, a Boston-based company known for its collision-free motion planning technology for industrial robots, has joined forces with HLS Engineering Group, an integrated engineering expert. The partnership aims to combine Realtime's Optimization-as-a-Service solution with HLS' engineering capabilities.
Realtime's Optimization-as-a-Service utilizes proprietary optimization software and leverages robotics and application engineering expertise to enhance overall productivity for manufacturers.
HLS, a trusted engineering partner in the industrial manufacturing sector, brings diverse knowledge in manufacturing, mechanical engineering, and robotic automation. The collaboration seeks to enable manufacturers to analyze and optimize their automation cells, leading to improved efficiency and productivity in a shorter timeframe.
Peter Howard, CEO of Realtime Robotics, noted that their optimization solution has already delivered positive outcomes for automotive manufacturing customers, and partnering with HLS strengthens their value proposition. The combined expertise and technology can help manufacturers identify productivity and efficiency enhancements in their existing automation cells without extensive manual testing.
HLS will employ advanced scanning technology to create a digital twin of a customer's manufacturing operations, gathering data and virtualizing their cells. Realtime's Optimization-as-a-Service will then process this digital data to analyze and identify potential bottlenecks in production. The service will generate and evaluate numerous robot paths, considering target assignment, robot reach, and other customer-defined parameters.
This complex process can be carried out without disrupting ongoing production. Once the results are finalized and validated, they can be seamlessly applied on the production floor.
The partnership between Realtime Robotics and HLS Engineering aims to enhance productivity and efficiency for manufacturers, streamlining processes and reducing manual intervention.
HLS Engineering Group, established in 1966, specializes in sustainable production solutions for plant construction and engineering. With a focus on integrated engineering, the company has particular expertise in the automotive bodywork sector. HLS also provides solutions for the rail vehicle and aerospace industries, as well as assembly technology, CFRPs (carbon fiber-reinforced polymers), and robot-based automation solutions.
Realtime Robotics excels in automatic, collision-free motion planning for industrial robots. Their technology generates optimized motion plans and interlocks to minimize cycle time in multi-robot cells. The company's solutions expand automation possibilities, enabling robots to operate collaboratively in unstructured workspaces, responding instantly to dynamic obstacles.
