Innovation Flourishes and Communities Reap Benefits Through Digital Roadmap

Enhancing accessibility, upskilling communities, and fostering resilience for the future lie at the core of the Minns Labour Government's new digital roadmap for New South Wales.

The NSW Digital Strategy, unveiled today, outlines how the state will provide innovative, inclusive, and secure digital services to enhance residents' quality of life. For the first time, the new strategy introduces a method to monitor digital progress at a state level.

The NSW Digital Strategy revolves around five primary objectives:

Accessibility: Ensure digital services are accessible, inclusive, and interconnected for all individuals in NSW
Productivity: Utilise digital tools to enhance service provision, bolster the local economy, and boost productivity
Trust: Cultivate trust through dependable, consistent government services and sustainable digital infrastructure
Resilience: Safeguard NSW and bolster resilience for online and offline emergencies
Digital Skills: Enhance digital proficiency within our public sector workforce.

This roadmap outlines how NSW will leverage digital transformation to stimulate economic advancement, enhance service delivery, and foster more connected communities.

NSW is home to 32% of Australia's population and stands as one of the most diverse states globally, with the Government dedicated to promoting inclusive digital services by assisting all NSW communities in their digital progression.

In response to a survey conducted by the NSW Government to comprehend the challenges individuals encounter when interacting with digital technologies and services, findings revealed that 22% of respondents feel they lack the essential skills to carry out crucial online tasks such as job hunting, working, studying, or accessing government services.

The feedback also highlighted that individuals aged 65 and above, those from low-income households, or individuals with a high school education level as their highest attainment are less likely to feel confident in performing these activities.
